Wine Press Northwest has released the Best of the Best of 2016 and the Lewis-Clark Valley AVA is well-represented among this distinguished list. You’ll find four wineries and 13 wines made the cut.
Clearwater Canyon Cellars entered five wines into the judging. Each earned a Platinum, highlighted by Double Platinum for a Carménère that Coco Umiker makes from Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills. The Platinum award winners were the 2013 Selway Red Wine from the Lewis-Clark Valley, the 2014 Petite Sirah (Washington), 2014 Verhey Vineyard Malbec from Rattlesnake Hills, and 2014 Umiker Vineyard Estate Syrah (Lewis-Clark Valley).
Basalt Cellars‘ 2013 GSM, a Grenache/Syrah/Morvedre blend from the Columbia Valley and 2013 Dwelley Vineyard Merlot from the Walla Walla Valley, each received a Platinum award. Their 2013 Rim Rock Red and 2014 Francine Cabernet Sauvignon were awarded Double Golds.
Colter’s Creek Vineyard & Winery 2013 Kooskooskia Red Blend was awarded a Double Gold and their 2013 Arrow Rim Red a Gold.
Lindsay Creek Vineyards received a Double Gold for their 2013 Mourvedre a Double Gold and a Gold for their 2013 Petite Sirah.
